Last reviewed October 18, 2026

Quick answerPick Bolt for token billing with unused tokens rolling over for a month, or Lovable for Git sync on every plan and hosting from its credit grant. Overskill is the third pick, with hosting that uses no credits.

Bolt.new vs Lovable: the short answer

Tokens on Bolt, credits on Lovable

Bolt's token help page says most usage comes from Bolt reading and syncing project files, so larger projects use more tokens per message. Pro starts at 10M tokens a month with no daily limit, and tokens from a paid subscription roll over for one additional month.

Plan mode costs 1 credit per message, and Lovable checks in when a single message crosses 20 credits by default. Monthly plan credits expire two months after they are issued, and Lovable says credits are not necessarily equal in value across plans.

Free plans, hosting and custom domains on Bolt and Lovable

Bolt's free plan hosts a site on up to 10 GB of bandwidth and 333,333 requests a month, with a hard limit on traffic. Free sites stop serving content at that limit and show a Made in Bolt badge. Pro hosting is up to 30 GB and 1 million requests a month, with pay as you go for more traffic. Bolt's custom domains are for paid plans only.

Lovable's free plan is 5 daily build credits, up to 30 a month. Lovable says publishing and running an app costs little and is covered by the grant included with a subscription, while apps with significant traffic or size can draw on the credit balance. Its custom domains also need a paid plan.

Payments, export and refunds

  • Bolt: connect Stripe to take one-time payments or run subscriptions. Download a project as a ZIP or back it up to GitHub. Bolt subscriptions are non-refundable.
  • Lovable: built-in payments need Pro or higher. Git sync is on every plan, and downloading code is on paid plans. Credits are not refundable.

Where Overskill fits as a third option

Overskill Starter is $25 a month, billed monthly, for 2,500 credits, so its entry price matches both rivals on monthly billing. Overskill's help center says hosting, page views and sign-ins cost zero credits. AI app builder with hosting lines up the hosting rules of the other builders.

Bolt and Lovable both have free plans; Overskill has none and gives new accounts 500 credits. A move from a Lovable or Bolt export is a rebuild, covered in Overskill vs Lovable. Replit is the other name buyers weigh, in Lovable vs Replit.
