AI app builder cost: plan fee, meter and extras
An AI app builder costs its monthly plan fee plus what its meter and extras add. For Overskill, Lovable, Bolt (bolt.new), Replit and Base44, the plan fee billed monthly is $20 to $25 a month, in US dollars, as read on October 18, 2026.
The meter is the unit each builder counts work in. Overskill counts credits, its unit for AI work and for some actions inside a published app, and Bolt counts tokens, which are small pieces of text.
| Builder | Plan price, billed monthly | Unit it meters | Charged outside the plan price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overskill | Starter, $25 a month | Credits, 2,500 a month | Storage past the allowance, from credits; Whop's card fees |
| Lovable | Pro, 100 credits, $25 a month, per Lovable's docs | Credits | Hosting past the included grant, from the credit balance |
| Bolt | Pro, $25 per month | Tokens, from 10M a month | Traffic past 1 million requests a month, pay as you go |
| Replit | Core, $20 a month | Credits; Agent work priced by effort | Publishing, from monthly credits; tax where it applies |
| Base44 | Starter, $20 a month | Message and integration credits | Connected services such as Stripe bill you directly |

Get started with Overskill →What the meter charges while you build
- Overskill: a typical change uses 400 to 1,500 credits, most near 700, and a fresh build usually 2,000 to 8,000. Starter includes 2,500 credits a month, and Overskill's terms say credits are used even when a generation errors.
- Lovable: a single message that crosses 20 credits triggers a check-in by default, and Plan mode costs 1 credit per message.
- Bolt: larger projects use more tokens per message.
- Replit: paid Agent work is priced by the complexity of the request.
- Base44: message credits are spent when you chat with the AI while building.
What the meter charges once the app is live
Overskill's help center says hosting, page views, sign-ins and reading or writing app data cost zero credits at any scale. Email costs 0.1 credits per accepted send, a connected-service call about 0.5, and the owner pays for any AI features visitors use. Storage past 50 GB of database and 100 GB of files is charged from credits.
- Lovable: apps with significant traffic or size may draw on the credit balance beyond the plan's included grant.
- Bolt: Pro hosting covers up to 30 GB of bandwidth and 1 million requests a month, then pay as you go.
- Replit: publishing costs come out of monthly credits, and usage-based fees start only after those credits are used.
- Base44: integration credits pay for built-in services, and connected services bill you directly.
Payment fees and taxes on top of the plan
An Overskill app that charges customers runs on Whop, and you pay Whop's published processing fees under Overskill's terms. Whop's fee page lists 2.7% + $0.30 per successful domestic card payment. Bolt connects Stripe for payments, Lovable's built-in payments need a paid plan, and Replit's prices are subject to tax depending on your location.
How to price a month for your own app
- Take the plan fee from the table.
- Add the changes you expect. On Overskill, each typical change draws 400 to 1,500 credits from the plan's monthly credits.
- Add what the live app draws: email, connected services and visitor AI use on Overskill, or traffic past the included grant on Lovable.
- Add payment fees if the app sells.
Overskill publishes ranges for a change and a fresh build, not for a finished app, so a monthly total follows the number of changes you make. How much does it cost to build an app with AI has the step-by-step version, cheapest AI app builder lists entry prices on both billing bases, and Overskill pricing covers both plans.
Overskill lists no free plan, and its pricing page says every new account starts with 500 credits. Its join page calls Overskill an invite-only beta, and its pricing page offers checkout. Pick Replit or Base44 for a $20 plan billed monthly, Lovable to start on a free plan before paying, and Overskill to keep hosting, page views and sign-ins off the credit meter.
